My Mouse is Dead. Long Live my Mouse!

In my earlier post about three-button mice and the weak, losing devices touted as replacements, I forgot to mention it clearly enough: my mouse of 14 years is dying.

It's not the button, and it's not the wheel or any of the gearing.  It's actually the switch behind button 2.  It's begun closing the switch unexpectedly, and usually in response to movement or another switch being closed, and this kind of semi-random behaviour is unacceptable.

So after 14 years or to, usually of heavy, heavy usage, my Logitech 1996/97-era First Mouse M-S35 has to go.  It outlasted 5 employers, 5 moves, 2 countries, countless RTS games (right/middle inverted strafe fo' life, yo) and many hours, but this is it.

Like I said, though, I have like three spares, and this one has great parts in it (aside from the switch), so it can go into the back yard on blocks as a parts car for the next one.

The newer one has this annoying squeak and a keyclick that's a bit too resistant for my taste, but I'm sure I'll adapt.  I have 14 years.

(and if you can find a good 3-button mouse, I'd love to upgrade)
