Now consider this: since he inspects it beforehand and knows the position of all the pieces, understand what happens as he solves it. He's moving pieces, and altering the layout. He needs to keep his mental image of the cube constantly updated, and if he messes up the orientation of one piece (easy to do as he rotates the cube and a block pivots instead of rotates) then he's screwed.
